Yes, a loss without playing starters. Why should the committee consider things like injuries to star players, but not when a team intentionally decides not to play starters (to avoid injury risk, for example)

Are you already setting up the excuses in your mind? "LSU played their starters in the SECCG." is a pretty lousy excuse even by UGA standards.

Ah see. This is why I started my OP with a disclaimer about not getting your panties in a wad. Clearly yours are.

My question has nothing to do with UGA. And I am not seriously suggesting that LSU bench it’s starters. My OP is about the playoff system being flawed.

Someone give me a legit answer. Don’t say that a 12-0 LSU that has beaten 3 top-10 teams wouldn’t already be a lock for the playoff. What’s the point of trying to win yet another tough game?

Just effectively tell the playoff committee that your regular season speaks for itself, and they will get their freshmen some experience in Atlanta.

The playoff committee was designed to account for things exactly like this (although it’s an admittedly extreme example)

Maybe we don’t want to be a 4 seed playing in Phoenix against Ohio State in the first round. Instead could be a 1 seed playing again in Atlanta against Clemson.

Plus we recruit against Georgia.
