We stayed in the Prati neighborhood and had a great time. It was much cheaper than staying on the other side of the Tiber but was still walkable. We walked to the Forum, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Pantheon, and the Jewish Ghetto. We taxied to Borghese and Vatican because our guide wanted us there at a early time in the AM and we wanted the time to eat breakfast.

We’d usually walk there and depending on how tired we were- or how much time we’d spent- we’d get a taxi back. Use the app called “free now” it is Uber but for taxis. Works exactly the same.

We stayed in the general area of the Trevi fountain, which was great because signs and monuments can help guide you walk back to your place. Get far enough away to avoid the tourist stuff, though.
Next trip we will do trestevare. Easy walk to everything and better prices
