If the model is in the first two years of a major overhaul or power train or technology implementation...the extended warranty is a good idea in my opinion. You can also work the cost of the warranty in to negotiations...but I’ve never had much success negotiating the cost of repairs. I would not recommend purchasing an aftermarket extended warranty..only at time of purchase of the vehicle if at all.

Nissan extended the warranty on the cvts for several model years. Check with them.
My wife’s murano, 2010, fell in a year that wasn’t extended. 110,000 miles. However even though the vehicle had never been serviced by a Nissan dealer, Nissan covered all but 1200 of a new tyranny. I couldn’t write the check fast enough .
But, the dealership you take it to matters greatly. Atlanta Nissan service writer had it at 5800.00 didn’t bother to mention any good will that Nissan might extend. Called Nalley and service writer Gill handled everything. Bought a lot of loyalty.
