I’m not advocating drowning them, but let’s think about this for a second. First off, looking up drowning of rodents and the research is all over. Multiple studies show it is a humane way to dispatch them as they don’t feel pain and likely don’t understand what’s happening essentially.

Given that, is drowning in a live trap really worse then shooting multiple times with a BB gun? I’ve killed plenty of squirrels and many take multiple shots. That first or second shot isn’t feeling good either.

Given that, if I catch them in a live trap I shoot them in the head with a BB gun. I’d say maybe 30% of the time it’s one shot and instant death. Many times even an almost point blank shot to the head and I shoot them again.
