Since almost everyone had no more than one car per family, rail was used to travel if dad had to use it for work. 1955 1957 traveled on SP from Beaumont to Laffy with mom to visit her ailing mother and that was the only time I have ever been on a train, other than kiddy trains when visiting a zoo.
