You’re just stupid if you want to sit there and make a large amount of roux for a huge pot of gumbo. Thousand percent better off using jar roux and spending other time cutting up fresh trinity , precooking okra, making stock, than stirring together flour and oil for an hour when the shite in the jar is the same and works just as well.

So people who actually want to make a homemade roux are stupid? I guess your grandparents were stupid?

I can put a frozen apple pie in the oven and it tastes as good as most homemade apple pies I’ve had. Should no one make a homemade apple pie?

Not make a red gravy because we can dump Ragu, in 31 flavors, over too well done spaghetti?

Not roast a chicken because we can buy rotisserie chicken at every corner store?

Well by god if we are 1000 percent better off using the jar then what the hell are we thinking?

If it takes you an hour to make a roux than you don’t know how to make a roux so yes you should stick to the jar. Dump that can of chicken broth in it as well.

Calling someone stupid for cooking in a traditional way is stupid.

It’s flour. And oil. You sitting there stirring it together doesn’t come out with a better end product than the jar fresh trinity, stock, etc does result in a better end product.

I didn’t say shite about apple pies or whatever other nonsense you brought up.

Flour and oil. By all means, waste your time stirring. Won’t make a difference.
