The article was pointing out that having the condition is not a crime any more than someone who thinks about murder a lot is not a murderer. They may be a psychopath but they have not committed a crime. It is a mental illness and acting on it is a crime. I'd rather the issue be out in the open and have resources for these individuals to get help than keep it in the dark where their deviant instincts are allowed to fester until they act on them. Is that normalizing by your definition?

pedophilia is a sickness/pathology

acting on it with underage children, is a crime

this is sick. this is gross. this is true. that's why recidivism is so high

a major issue with treating people with this pathology is posts like your's. whatever help society can offer these people will be negated if they can't even admit their issues. i'm talking about the non-offenders. obviously if they act on their urges, they are criminals and deserve harsh punishment. the problem is we want to help those with the sickness who do not offend so that they won't offend.
