That quote is high as hell especially this time of year. Call around OP, set one morning and have 4-5 guys come by to quote you. Tell them all you are getting quotes. It only takes about 15 mins for someone to quote you, have one company come at 8am, one at 9am, one at 10am, etc.

I bet you get that down around $5,000 or less. This time of year you can probably find a company with overstocked units from the summer they never sold and someone that wants your business.

There’s a huge mark up on AC units. Your first quote was someone looking for a sucker. I bet if you call them back and tell them you got a quote for much lower they would drop it by $2,000-3000 and they’ll still be high.
