Why when down by 11 pts with 9 minutes left would a coach continuously call slow developing plays and the QB drain the play clock down to 6 secs before the snap?

Because that is all we have in the playbook. We don't have a short passing game to play with.

You all know me on here, Bama to the core, etc.

But I watched that game with a ton of my AU friends and I was screaming for Auburn more than they were. I was pissed that adjustments weren't made when the scripted stuff was shut down in the 1st qtr.

Gus will never change in some aspects of his philosophy, he is who he is. But he and his staff have worked so hard to acquired more talent than any AU coach before him and it feels like he's wasting it. You don't sit Schwartz/Shiver/Gatewood/Joiner when your offense is just can not execute.
