I feel your pain, Paige. I have horrible insomnia and always have. Started having panic attacks pretty much non-stop, a psychiatrist prescribed Mirtazapine...I gained 40 freaking pounds. I quit taking that and they put me on something else, that caused brain zaps, plus trazodone for sleep.
I never took the trazodone. Figured out it wasn't actually psychological, it was hormonal. And there ain't NOTHING they can do to treat that.
So, now I meditate and do yoga to help with sleep and fantasize about killing people to help calm the rage.
Hope you find something to work for you.

I've always had insomnia myself, even when I was a baby and small child I didn't nap at all. As I got older I tried everything to "fix" it and found things that worked, but all of them would make me feel worse than just not sleeping.
Now I just lean into the insomnia instead of trying to fight it. I get stuff around the house done late at night, keep myself entertained, and don't let the thought of "WHY CAN'T I SLEEP!" drive me crazy.
I learned the key for me was never laying down before I was positive I could fall asleep, and not rushing it before then. I sleep maybe 2 hours a night and wake up feeling great. There's some nights I don't sleep at all and still feel great.
Some people just don't need 8 hours, but they drive themselves crazy trying to get it. The crazier it makes them the more pressure they put on themselves, the more they're in their own head, the more it becomes the thing that actually keeps them awake. It's a viscious circle.
