When I was in college I worked for a. Construction company that built large things (I worked on a hospital. )
The policy was if you found something that saved them money and they used your idea then you got half the money saved.
A few people were cut large checks.

I didnt read all the replies, but I know if it were my company I'd get an atta boy. With that being said, I would still ask. Worst case scenario is you are in the exact same financial boat you are in now.
