When you make a blanket statement of home ownership based on one example from a guy on the Northshore of all places, you should certainly be taken very seriously.
I guarantee you I have more equity from home ownership alone than your entire portfolio, and I did it using a fraction of my money/overall costs, & used the banks cheap money for the rest. But I understand my scenario is not typical as well.
