The end of a quarter should result in a change of possession

Why even have quarters if the end of the 1st and 3rd mean nothing?
Let the team playing defense at the end of a quarter inherit the ball, down, spot, and yards to go.
Might be kinda fun.

It might be kind of fun to let each team pick a player to have a MMA fight against each other each quarter but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea

One of the college allstar games used to give a scoring team the option to receive the kickoff if they were behind by a certain number of points. IDK how many.

So you put in your scrub QB to run backwards and dive for a 30 yard loss. Screw over the opponent so bad that they inherit 4th and 45 and punt it right back to you. It'd be awesome.

You'd literally have teams calling timeouts at the end of a quarter to try and be the ones to punt with no time left.

What you tried to say is the end of 1st & 3rd qtr results in a KO to start the 2nd & 4th.
But even that screws over a team over any number of final moment circumstances in the 1st & 3rd.

Or kick off every quarter or just call it 1st half and 2nd half?
I mean OP does make some sense when she says why even if have 4 quarters if nothing changes during 2 of them except a commercial break?

Are you implying the wind being a factor?
No one can control the direction and speed of the wind throughout the course of a 3 hour game unless you play in a DOME
