I think it’s more to do with in the past opponents knew we weren’t going to score a ton, so THEY were able to play very conservative on offense as well. Helped our defense. Towards the end of miles tenure other teams started to open up the offenses and try to outscore LSU offense instead of getting into a defensive slugfest, (this is basically what modern football has become, we’re just not used to seeing it at LSU-rules all favor the offense, so you have to be able to score quickly to keep up. ) knowing they could afford a turnover or 2 because our offense was so bad/predictable/time consuming. A 2 score lead on LSU was a lot to overcome in those days.

Also we don’t have a devin white, or game changing dlineman. You absolutely need that to dominate on defense no matter how good your dbs are. (And ours are good but young and need experience, just like our wrs last season)
