People are stubborn and like to believe they are open minded on matters such as faith and politics, which are most times an illusion they themselves grow to believing they represent.
IMHO, open mindedness conduces change not resist it. If you are able to here someone’s views and beliefs and can take something away from their point of view and implement it into your own views and beliefs constructively, wisdoms will be attained.
If you believe your views are concrete and are only willing to debate your views and beliefs, growth is limited due to gaining knowledge instead of wisdom.
