I have a 2006 Jetta that was given to me. Electric fan stopped working, so I thought no big deal. Ordered the cheapest one on amazon and swapped it out. Turns out the non oem fan didn’t spin at the same rpm and the coolant would get hotter then normal. Had to take the new one out and reinstall a OEM fan. Volkswagens can be a PITA to work on.

German engineering is vastly overrated.

On the bright side, the only thing left to fix would be quality of life upgrades. A/C , electric windows.. Etc.
