Colorado is awesome but I never really feel any adrenaline to be "safe" when hiking there. Jackson Hole is just more rugged and wilderness-y to me. Its mostly just in your head, but having Grizzlies and Wolves and Moose and Buffalo helps, but the mountains are also just not as rolling and more dangerous feeling to me.
This makes no sense.

If its late April you'll have some warm days and be able to do some hiking.
Could not be more wrong. Any hiking will be with snow shoes.
If you want to hike up to alpine lakes, early August is the soonest I would visit Jackson Hole. If you're going to visit Jenny Lake, I would plan take the ferry across and hike up Cascade Canyon. I agree with the guy that recommended Green River lakes earlier. Give yourself enough time to hike to the upper lake.

Apparently dude is going to the wrong parts of Colorado. Plenty of ruggedness in the San Juan’s and Gores.

They’re accessible without gear by mid to late June.
