A little of that second thing, I believe.

I think it's a heat map of where the individual model runs are taking this thing over the next "X" number of hours. I don't know how many hours the map covers, though. Orange and red are places where lots of models say the storm will pass at some point over the next few days. Blues and greens are places where fewer runs are predicting the storm will pass at some point in the next few days.

So, that wispy tail of blues and greens isn't the storm going away, it's just that not many models predict it'll be there over the next few days. It could be an artifact of some model runs that may run out longer into the future than others or model runs that have the storm moving faster than other models. The oranges and reds, though, are places that the models agree well that the system will pass.

Also, it's gonna be like a WEEK before it gets anywhere near the Lesser Antilles. THEY'RE 2000 miles from Louisiana and it takes a storm moving 10 mph about a week to cover that distance. I'm gonna watch two LSU football games before I start worrying about what this thing's doing.

It shows confidence in track over time. So where it fades out is so far in the future, there's no confidence in where it'll go.
