In 1993-95 I visited the Chobe twice and stayed at the Cresta Mowana Lodge. It was amazing. You're right about the elephants...the park may still be overpopulated. We had a choice every morning and evening of either a land rover excursion or a boat ride. I did the boat ride a couple of times...you get to see hippos. One afternoon there was a herd of elephants crossing the river, and the dominant male was shunning another male...would not let it come with the rest of the herd across the river. Fascinating if you enjoy watching wildlife. You won't be able to help but see elephants. It's amazing just to see the sheer amount of damage they do to trees and vegetation just on their daily trips down to the river.

I actually flew into Vic Falls and stayed a night at the hotel right there by the falls. The Cresta Mowana sent a van to pick us up.
