FLEX: CB Ken Crawley, New Orleans Saints
87.0 Overall Grade, 31 Defensive Snaps
Looking to bounce back after struggling last season, New Orleans Saints cornerback Ken Crawley delivered his best performance of the preseason against the New York Jets this week. From 18 snaps in coverage, he allowed just one reception that went for no gain and came away with a pass breakup.
K/PR Deonte Harris, New Orleans Saints
71.0 Overall Grade
The 2019 undrafted free agent boosted his hopes of making the final roster for the New Orleans Saints with an impressive 78-yard punt return for a touchdown.

I question wtf we are doing with the DBs sometimes. PRob can’t cover the sidelines for shite. He is a nickel. That was proven here when we tried to make a square peg fit, and in philly when they stuck him inside. Yet we continue to throw him out on an island and he looks like shite.
Crawley is a man press corner. If he plays off man, he’s gonna interfere. If he plays inside, he’s gonna get lost in the wash. Man press corner. That’s what he can do. That’s it.

Glad he’s showing something, but they kinda ignore the fact that it’s the Jets.

I'm guessing that they're just experimenting with PRob on the outside. If they do this during the regular season...something is wrong.
If anything, I think PJ Williams just may have beaten out PRob in the slot. This is just a guess, but it does tie everything together.

I assume with Prob they know what they’ve got with him at nickel so they’re using these reps to work him on the outside so if they need him due to injuries he can step in there

One of the reasons I don't always agree with PFF grades. However, when they back up what I'm saying they're the be all do all. Just not this time.
One of these guys is not like the other, which one of these guys just doesn't belong?

Crawley is the only option on this roster unless Gardner Johnson can step up. Prob is lost on the boundary, and PJ is a slot guy who plays best up on the line and presses. The second he is on the edge, he fricks up too.
We have a wealth at nickel, but if Apple or Lattimore gets hurt, we better pray.
