I have some fishing experience from my time with the Boy Scouts and surf fishing on family vacations but it’s been years. Looking for something a short drive from the house to just fish for a couple of hours and go back home. Don’t plan on eating anything, just catch and release.

are you a member of the YMCA? If so they have a pond at the location on perkins between Siegen/Bluebonnet

At least they did when I lived in BR during college

I know where you’re talking about. That’s actually not far from my house. But I’m not a YMCA member.

you dont have to be a member to go fish there. I went all the time in middle school and hs and never had any issues. you can always go catch catfish on the river and if you have a kayak or something, that opens your options up a bit as well
