Fishing Toledo bend - east of 191

Good morning. Taking my family to Toledo bend this weekend. We fish from kayaks and have a house east of the 191 bridge in the prairie creek area, not far from the creek mouth. Any suggestions on where to put my 6 year old on some fish? We mostly bass/perch fish around here in Dallas but would mind catching some nice catfish either. I have tons of gear, just want to make sure to bring the right stuff for this time of year with our limited range. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Bump - Anyone have anything to help me out? Any suggestions on a good catfish bait for the kids to fish from the dock?

I have no idea where this is. What area is it close to?

Oh, the back of lanan.
I wish I could help. There may be some perch to be caught under the bridge.

used to fish that area alot. Not sure your boat situation and/or weather but if I was in your situation, here's what I'd do
1)fish bass early and late with topwater in the hurricane creek area (north/south cove that parallels hwy 191).
2)set out noodle or jug lines baited with worms in the main feeder creek just southeast of your point. Its a long bayou that you can go way back in there if you want. Some of my favorite memories are jug lining with my grandfather in a similar area. It increases you chances of not scratching. **I was told the water is low now, may have set them a ways out of the creek more in the flat closer to the island
3)beat the banks (anywhere) for bream with crickets during the day.
4)as mentioned, under the hwy 191 bridge at night, you can drown some shiners. Ive caught bar fish, white perch (sac-a-lait) and cat fish doing this. Fish deep
Good luck

Thank you both so much. We have a kayak that is peddle drive and one with a trolling motor so range is good but not too limited. As long as weather holds up, plan to follow your plan closely. Thanks!!!!

Hurricane is quite the paddle from that bridge.

When I saw how much ground I would like need to cover for this trip, I pulled the trigger on a trolling motor. Here's hoping the battery holds!

Not a s bad as I thought. About a mile and a half from the launch by the bridge to the mouth.
