Going for the first time this weekend. Never been red fishing and I’m pretty excited to learn what it’s all about. Anyone ever been here? Any tips or tricks? Any stories are also appreciated. TIA OB

Almost all of us kayakers have been. What are you fishing out of? Stop at PAC Kayak rentals and talk to Eddie.

Did PAC kayak re-open? I know Barry flooded everything and Eddie lost everything from what I gathered.

a lot of good areas to hit and you don’t really have to travel far to find fish
Last trip was 2 wks ago and the water was finally getting right after the storm
I’m assuming you’re going in a boat, not yakking but the basics still apply, fish the cuts/ points and find moving water (hopefully clean)
We usually head northeast through the shrimp nets and fish the marsh areas about a mile from the launch.
Or you can head south towards Isle de jean
also, really no wrong answer just ask around at the launch might get some good intel
Or like Lefty said stop at the yak slips across the launch and ask for Eddie he’ll be more than happy to point ya in the right direction
Last trip was a lot of small trout and couple nice slot reds with swim baits, gold spoon and gulp under cork
Tight lines and let us know how you do.

Go 40 yards out of the marina and limit out on trout since you will be down there.

There are times when that is entirely possible...I don't think it's that time yet. :)

I cannot explain it.
Have ran all over up to the Sulphur Mines and down to Lake Chien sometimes you do good and other times nada.
On the way in fishing by the marina I have always got into a mess of trout, reds, or flounder. Saved many trips that sucked.
My motor blew a rod one time. Used my trollmotor to troll all the way back from Lake Chien. Ended up fishing by the Marina and caught a limit of trout and reds. It made a bad day better.
If it works do not jinx the system.

We watched a group of guys trying to launch one morning that were unable to get there outboard fired up. By the time we got back from not catching, they had filled two ice chest full of flounder and specks fishing from the bank after they trailered their boat.
