Hey there, trying to start a small crop of sunchokes soon. Does anyone have experience or tips? Cheers.

From what I've read on them, this is the wrong time of year to do this. They should be planted in early spring about 2 weeks before the last frost date. They take 110-150 days to mature and love weather in the 65-90 degree range.
You will get mild temperatures into November in the N.O. area but December, and especially January and February can get iffy, and if planted now, I doubt they'd do much once it gets cooler.
You're looking at a plant that has the potential to need to be in the ground 5 months before mature.

My dad used to grow them (Covington) and had great success. But he's gone now so I can't ask him what he did.
