I currently have a VERY old laptop that I use as my main work computer. It’s a Mac and I’m looking to get away from Mac at this time.

Looking to build something lightweight, since I will be carting it around, but I would like to also have some gaming capabilities.

Looking to spend between $1-1.5k. Not sure where to start.

Thanks.

Dell XPs 13.

What do you use it for? Programs, apps, travel, etc

Honestly, it isn’t an overly complicated system that I need. For work it is mainly using EMR systems that don’t require too much computing power along with general mainstream programs (Word, PPT, Excel, etc.).

I just want something that has multi-use potential.

I'm partial to the x1 carbons since I have a 3rd gen one (on gen 7 or 8 now I think?) as my daily driver that I love, but any of those machines mentioned earlier will be really nice

You are getting into a weird state.

The XPS comes with those CPUs with AMD graphics.

Very lite gaming.

If you want something that can run say AC:Origins @ 1080/60fps you are going into the gaming notebook area with at less a 1050 Ti.

Their search feature has an adjustable price range aspect.

The bottom-end laptop (ASUS TUF FX504GD-NH51) is just over $250 less than the lowest-end Dell XPS 13 while having faster RAM, a slightly better CPU and a non-integrated video card.

Yeah didn't think he wanted a gaming laptop.

So wasn't trying to bring this up.

Trackpad is also top notch on the XPS.

While having a shite battery and having the size and weight of a concrete block

Not to mention the likely god awful trackpad, keyboard, and display

Ding

Ding ding ding

In 2017 I purchased around 8 different laptops because living away from home, SO starting school and work hardware. So tried a few different models relatively recently.

Just get a spec'd XPS imo. Blade Stealths are nice if you want to dish out the cash. It is honestly the only "mainstream" laptop I've never used.
