18 Ints in 1980.

His total of 18 is five more than anyone else has had since 1960.

He also had 5 Ints that were wiped out for penalties.

The current DB averages 2.5 Ints per season.

But he gets no love like the Ronnie Lotts or Ed Reeds of DB fame.

Lester had 23 Interceptions (including the penalty ones that were not called on him in ONE year.)

He formed the greatest DB tandom in the history of the league with Mike Haynes.

You’re including playoff games in that total. He had 13 in the regular season. He also steered himself in stickum, hands , arms, jersey. Stickum was banned after 1980. Lester had 14 total interceptions for the rest of his career (5 more seasons). But 1980 was a spectacular season.

One of the best nicknames in football, Lester the molester. also dubbed himself the only true Jedi in the NFL.

The single season record holder is Dick “Night Train” Lane. 14 regular season interceptions in a 12 game season on a 2-10 team. That is ridiculous.
