re: Since Mayor Pete loves quoting scriptures, what's the chance he quotes this one?

For starters, the word didn’t appear in any translation until 1946.
Secondly, Paul had no word in his contemporaneous language for “homosexuality.”
Thirdly, Paul had no understanding of the existence of homosexual sexual attraction (virtually nobody back then did).
The idea that Romans 1 is an example of God universally condemning homosexuality is the result of a gross misinterpretation of the very words and overall message of the passage, and an incredibly stupid one to fall for, at that. One has to have extremely poor reading comprehension or a bias against homosexuals to take from Romans 1 such a disgusting message. The fact that so many Christians interpret it that way shows that too many Christians have an unhealthy relationship with sex that has perverted them.
First
If you are going to disbelieve because of the lack of a particular word then you just don't want to believe. And I've heard enough from you to know this is probably the case.
Second
I guess you are using point one as a second point.
Third
You are wrong. If you cannot understand the scripture then you need to finish school.
There is no room for honest interpretation, it means what it says.
Oh, my Bible was printed in 1611 and this is what it says.
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. ....... God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

quote:Who’s he talking about? You really don’t want to talk about that part. “Everybody” or “all sinners” are examples of incorrect answers to that question.

This is not an example of God condemning homosexuality. I know you wish it to be—countless people wish it to be because it makes them comfortable about something that bothers them—but it never will come true.
