I feel like the Yankees would be a better team for this question. They've already retired about twice as many numbers as the Lakers. They'll retire anyone's number.

They’ve retired every single digit
Every single digit number player is in the hall of fame (or about to be- Jeter)

My first thought, too.
The Yankees literally don't have an unretired single digit number left, save for 0 which Ottavino dusted off this year.
I'm a lifelong Yanks fan, but there are a few numbers I'd argue that shouldn't be retired.
