Was this even a ball they used back in the day?
Supposedly a game ball from the 60s/70s.
Saying that it has been in there family but they don’t have info on it
Possible 60/70s LSU football

That's not an LSU football from the 60's or 70's unless you're talking about 1860 or 1870. Either way, it's just a fake. Worthless.

If they don’t have paperwork authenticating it then it’s worthless as anything more than story

Looks like that's was 90's era. Exact years don't know. I for sure remember the numbers on the side.

More likely an LSU practice ball. Says NFL on it so not a game ball. The NCAA ball is slightly smaller than the NFL ball. LSU might have had some NFL balls around for guys headed to the NFL to practice with. An LSU game ball would have an NCAA logo on it.
email Wilson - they should be able to pin down the date within a couple years.

I hope you're being sarcastic. How VALUABLE do you think an LSU practice football has ever been? Or, even funnier, where the frick he's going to have "Paperwork" for an LSU football?
Have of the kids I knew growing up had one of those. You guys are funny.

Pretty sure most D1 schools use the same size ball as the NFL dimensionally. I do know that Wilson made and makes a 1001 and a 1005 for College and pretty sure the 1001 is a striped NFL ball basically. I would bet that that ball is simply an old LSU practice ball.

It is a practice ball. I have a couple that are from the mid 90’s and there’s a very similar brand. This one I bet is 80’s.

There are minor differences in the specifications between the NCAA ball and the NFL ball. And the specs call for a range of inches for circumference and length which would allow for a slightly smaller NCAA ball (not all footballs are exactly the same size - neither NCAA nor NFL - there are slight variances)
And the specs ranges are wide enough that you could have:
1) A ball that was too large to fit NCAA specs, but fit NFL specs
2) A ball that was too small to fit NFL specs, but fit NCAA specs
3) A ball that fit both NFL and NCAA specs.
The specs are in the NCAA and the NFL rules
