Yeah he's also talking about a vacation. Europeans are not going to these places everyday to eat and chow down.
I don't have any science behind my thinking, just personal experiences. I've mentioned it before, high fructose corn syrup. That shite is in a lot of our foods. It's addictive and provides nothing but making you fat.

But people hold up Italy and Greece as evidence that the Mediterranean diet results in thin people. Bull shite. Walking everywhere across hilly terrain results in thin people
America, for the most part, has taken away the most consistent and voluminous source of human calorie burn throughout history, walking.
With the exception of a few places, walking a 1/4 to a 1/2 mile is considered exercise and not an everyday common event.
