I am also about to choose between pebble tec and a quartz finish. Hoping to see answers from those with experience.
you probably know what i know that quartz is supposed to be way better than the regular plaster but not as good as pebbletec in terms of longevity. they both look good and can be tinted to give the water different looks. quartz - i think - feels more like regular plaster on your feet while pebbletec is a bit rougher because pebbles. pebbletec sheen is a smoother alternative to the regular pebbletec. pebbletec is also more expensive that quartz which is why i'm wondering if it is worth the extra money.

Ask your pool guy if he has some references for actual pools you can go look at. Anyone who drops $50k on a pool will likely be happy to show it off and talk shop about the BS they like and wish they had done.

I can give you some insight. I just put in a quartz finish pool and my friend put in a pebble tech.
He put his in first and I was able to see and use his. He and his wife prefered the look, didnt mind the cost, and liked the advertised durability. They are happy with it.
That said, I ended up going quartz. I seem his pool and found it way to rough for my taste. When you been in the water for a while it will hurt your feet. I will admit it looks nice. It almost looked like a colored exposed aggregate concrete. Once again, I was worried with the feel and a little worried about it being a fad and not a lasting style. My pool guy said the quartz would hold up very well and I prefer the smooth plaster feel.
