Can someone ID this POS and tell me what I can use to kill it in St. Aug grass.
I have used Round Up in spots and that kills it for sure, but it grows fast and mats in the grass and chokes out the St. Aug. I also tried MSM without a surfactant and doesn’t look to slow it down at all. Thanks for any help.

It looks like Virginia buttonweed that has a fungus / virus ? I think I read that somewhere years ago when I noticed it in my yard that color. It discolors the stems and leaves like that but does nothing to stop it from growing. It's a bitch to control if you don't jump on top of it and pull it early. My new yard may get a spot or two but I can find it and pull it and keep it from spreading.

I don’t think it’s buttonweed. I know what that looks like and when I had it MSM knocked it out. This stuff doesn’t react to MSM.
I thought it might be wavyleaf basketgrass.
Another pic of some new sprouts

It’s easy to pull, gather all the strands, rip it out

Hairy Jointgrass aka small carpetgrass. Prayers sent.
Looks very similar to wavy basketgrass, you might have some of that growing on your property too. I’d like to tell you how to control it but post emergents have only been successful in short term control as St. Aug isn’t able to choke out regrowth due to slow growth rate..
My recommendation: nuke large mats with glyphosate. Treat edges of lawn with post emergent (would try Celsius). Pull everything you can. Resod.
