I really like Navarre Beach. Just west of there is a long stretch of completely undeveloped beachfront. It’s a preserve/park: Gulf Islands National Seashore. Pack up some chairs and an ice chest and pick your spot. You can find complete isolation... your own private beach.
It’s like that almost all the way to Pensacola Beach.
Ft. Walton and PCB are easy drives from Navarre.
Juana’s Pagodas is a good spot for cocktails and casual dining.

We’ve been to Navarre the last 3 years. It’s much more laid back than GS/OB and not nearly as busy. We rent a house and like others said the beaches are very quiet. I really enjoy the drive from Navarre to Pensacola through the seashore park. It’s really relaxing to see all that undeveloped beachfront.
