Houma was great in the 60’s - 80’s until the oilfield crashed the first time. Fishing and duck hunting was fabulous. Now everything is washing away. There have been drastic changes in Terrebonne Parish the last thirty years. I see a lot of no good ,don’t give a frick trashy people now. Living down the bayou was great years ago.

Yep for the most part the bayou communities are made up of those that can’t afford to leave and move up the bayou. The rest are camps that cost as much or more than most homes. I lived on the east side during high school in the 90’s and it has gone to absolute shite. Basically little Mexico now. The nice neighborhoods keep expanding out toward Schriever. This last oilfield crash has really set the town back. Starting to have big city type crime and the drug problems are horrible for a town it’s size. The idea of having to spend $20k plus a year to send my three kids to a decent school was a major reason we left.
