I know Fresno is a western program, but that run for the title is and was unprecedented.

If Fresno had made the NCAA basketball tournament, they would have been a 14-16 seed. Their RPI was 50, they had a 47-31 record and were 4-6 against teams ranked 51-100 in RPI.

And they didn't win it cheaply. They beat Rice 17-5, North Carolina in 3 and then Georgia in 3...and the two losses they had were by 1 run each...while their wins were mostly blowouts in the CWS. They deserved that title, just dominated the competition. They outscored them 61-29.

They were something like top 15 in the preseason and underperformed all year.

People only remember the 4 seed and nothing else about that team. They weren't a bunch of scrubs, they just didn't play up to their talent in the regular season.

and it only happened because our shitass AD made the team switch to Nike bats just before postseason. If we had kept our equipment we'd been using all season we absolutely cruise in that 08 postseason.
