Dad told me that when he was 16, he told his dad that "he was a man now and could do whatever he wanted to do" and that "he didn't have to take orders from Dad any more." Grandpa got out some boxing gloves and proceeded to give my Dad an old fashioned whipping.

I never tried that with Dad.
