Pretty much sums it all up in a nutshell, I personally think we should ban American flag burning and the fact Texas v. Johnson was 5-4 really maintains the topic as open and renders that decision as subject to question, the American flag's a unique representation, symbol. It transcends politics and denotes allegiance not only to a country but to a way of governance that's likely the greatest in the history of the world and should be protected beyond all measure. Moreover, I could go hardcore textualist/originalist on all of y'all and argue that the 1st Amendment doesn't protect symbolic speech, don't think anyone when the Framers drafted the 1st Amendment ever interpreted speech beyond the oral production of words like my legal spirit animal Hugo Black maintained his entire SCOTUS career. It is what it is.
