Came from nothing. College dropout. Failed in multiple careers and business ventures. Eventually made the Forbes 400. Adopted me. Travelled the world and saw/did crazy things straight out of a hollywood script. Went to prison and lost everything. Eventually got cancer and died penniless.
The thing that always stuck with me is that he genuinely seemed happier those last few years (just spending time with mom, grandkids, cooking out) than he ever did when they had the private jets/yachts/mansions...
