Interesting fact, the company that owns Invisalign owns a portion of Smile Direct. The original pitch to investors in Smile Direct was that its the same technology as Invisalign, however with the tele-dentist for follow up visits. Initial visit is with dentist and Orthos. The business case is to cut out the middle man and bring the product Direct to consumers.

I have never done either Invisalign or Smile Direct just know some of the original investors in the company.
