For some reason I read Anasazi Boys first. It was good to very good even not having read American Gods.
American Gods was a very good read.
I think the partial Gaiman book Good Omens (co-written with Terry Pratchett) may be better than either, though. Prachett's humor blends in really well with Gaiman's more fantastical style.
