I think most can agree that we don't want the guy who is arguing with his shopping cart to be armed.

However, we also know that as soon as you enact confiscation laws they are going to be abused.


Anyone who has ever been through a divorce, or known people who have gone through a divorce, knows that false allegations of abuse are just part of the playbook.

Once a judge issues an order to confiscate your guns you are going to wake up with a SWAT team busting through your door.


And then, when you finally get a chance to go to court, the judge is going to be real hesitant to allow you to have your guns back because no judge is going to want to be the guy who arms someone who commits a crime with a gun 24 hours later - and if a judge handles enough cases that will happen sooner or later.
