I didn’t say I agreed with the pitch calling. Just the rationale. It’s baseball 101.

I was a high school pitcher. I didn’t have great velocity, but I had good control and location. My go-to pitch on a full count was a breaking ball and 9 out of 10 times I could throw it for a strike. It would either freeze them if I threw it inside and called strike 3, or over the plate and break away and miss it swinging. Everyone expects a fastball in that count. Don’t throw what they’re expecting.
