I don’t think the kid should have been in the game period. Every pitch he throws is a beach ball.

I didn’t say I agreed with the pitch calling. Just the rationale. It’s baseball 101.

I agree, he shouldn’t have been in there. But you’re defending the pitch selection by saying it’s better to continue throwing fastballs instead of an off speed pitch because you’re afraid to walk him.

I was a high school pitcher. I didn’t have great velocity, but I had good control and location. My go-to pitch on a full count was a breaking ball and 9 out of 10 times I could throw it for a strike. It would either freeze them if I threw it inside and called strike 3, or over the plate and break away and miss it swinging. Everyone expects a fastball in that count. Don’t throw what they’re expecting.
