This is exactly the way mine is setup. Works great
I used to have a component cable running to that location before I switched to Directv. My old provider’s receiver would output both HDMI and component at the same time. Directv will not- so I simply installed an hdmi splitter and ran a new hdmi cable. Works perfectly
