The pass ball was the bigger mistake.
Mendoza was all or nothing this weekend.
He just missed a 405 homerun but other than that, he was kept in check.
Only reason to walk him was to set up a force but you had two outs and two strikes on him.

The pitch was way to good for that situation. I don't know where the pitch was called but it should not have been right down the heart of the plate. You pound it outside and make him chase.

Nobody is arguing that it wasn’t huge, but Mendoza’s run doesn’t matter. It was handled incorrectly from that point on. It really doesn’t matter who was on deck, he should have been walked to set up forces at all the bags

Exactly. The problem was not with the hitter but with the pitch. Also, we should not have had a runner in scoring position. We outhit FSU in both games. We limited ourselves with mistakes - mostly on the base paths.
