People keep making this argument and it's stupid. Walking Mendoza sets up a force everywhere. Martin was a right handed hitter to face fontenot as opposed to the lefty Mendoza. Martin was 0-4 this game and has struggled in the post season. There were many more reasons to walk him than to pitch to Mendoza just cause his season average is 13 points lower which is completely negligible over the course of the season. With those averages being what and what I'm pitching to the guy whose been struggling especially since every other metric favors walking Mendoza there.
