fricking people under her over.

If that lady can make $42,000 a year doing it, why can't the others? Or if they don't make that, then why isn't it fair to blame them for their failures?

Because everyone on earth can't shill the same product. You have to have someone to sell to, and many do not. There is money to be made in MLMs if you get numerous people selling under you because you receive % of their sales.

I'd have to guess people with vast social circles are the people who find success in MLMs because they have a large number of people to both sell to and to recruit. However, thousands of women with very few people in their network get sucked into MLMs and have nothing to show for it (many even lose money).

Yes, lots of sales jobs go this way.. but the issue I have with MLMs vs. traditional sales jobs is that those jobs aren't cornering you in the grocery store, book store, your social media DMs, etc. putting on presentations and begging you to join their company. They're not pushing you and PROMISING you success/high income like MLMs do.

The issue I have is not so much the shite they sell (although that too because I'm sorry but your fricking oil doesn't cure someone's cancer), but the predatory methods they employ to recruit people who have no chance of succeeding.

EDIT - I didn't say anything about laws, to be clear. I don't necessarily think they should be outlawed.

My FIL is in one and he loves it but he is the only person I've ever seen do well in one. He is retired and a social butterfly. You have to be in the perfect storm to be successful and the majority of people don't fall into the lifestyle.

He once asked us why we weren't able to do well and we told him nobody likes to be blind sided with this kind of stuff. You have to be known personally. That or get suckers in but you don't want them in because they go nowhere.

LL I was hoping you had heard this podcast cause I know we share the same disdain yet fascination towards MLMs and how anyone can be suckered into one. And we share the same opinion that LuLaRoe is a horrible MLM that sells shitty fugly leggings

I found the podcast to be very interesting. Liked how they got someone to actually join one to see what it was like.

I would love to link the podcast on my fb but know it would piss off all my FB friends that are still suckered into an MLM. I just wish this message was out more so some of these women (and it’s majority women) could see just how bad of an idea it is to join one. It was really sad hearing story after story of some of these women joining an MLM to be able to actually earn money to support their families....and not only end up not making money with the MLM....but going into debt because of it.
