re: On 5/15, Michael Wilbon seemed to believe good chance AD was staying

ADs people have been leaking “still wants a trade” pretty much every day since Griffin was hired, so I doubt they were the source. I know there are a lot of people that were holding out hope that he would stay, but it’s over. Griffin made the pitch and it didn’t change his mind. There are no more cards to play regarding AD.

Look, I agree he is likely gone. However, I don’t think it was reasonable to expect him to come out yesterday and say he changed his mind due to 1 breakfast meeting with Griff. You have to play it out a bit more than that to not seem like he just completely 180’d on decision over night. Wilbon is very connected, and his comments to me have been a good indicator of the possibility.
Woj obviously put out Griffs side of meeting. Shams put out Klutch. The language used by Shams post meeting was a shift to a more “open” possibility to staying if you compare it to Shams report post draft lotto. Post draft lotto he said “his stance has not changed and wants to be traded”. Post meeting it was that they met and will continue discussions, but it’s highly unlikely he changes mind.
That’s a subtle shift in language from draft lotto that at least cracked the door a bit. Shams even added onto the first tweet in the second tweet that it was “productive, respectful” meeting.

Again, I still think he is likely gone, but I think we are jumping to conclusions as to the ultimate outcome of the meeting a bit too fast.
