This is a nothing story. Anyone who thinks that AD is going to give away any leverage before the meeting with Griffin is an idiot. Of course this is what AD is going to say. It's also what Griffin would want him to say at this point.
Really, it would look bad for Griffin if AD now said something like, "Well, I'm now open to staying," and then they meet and AD still wants out. It would look like a Griffin failure.
If AD is going to stay, it's better for him and for Griff if they meet and AD is "blown away" at the plan for the future and wants to be a part of it.
But, more than anything, I feel sure that if AD would consider staying, he would have some things that he wants from Griffin, and giving away that leverage would be stupid, so of course this is what Rich Paul is going to tell Fletch for now.

Why would AD need leverage? Either he gets a Supermax from the Pelicans (which they are obviously willing to give him), he does a one-year extension, or he says 'no thanks.'
AD's leverage is the fact that he's AD -- an insanely talented player.
