Trade deadline is a real thing.

Griffin already talked about it as well.

If the offers aren't where they need to be he is willing to take it to February. Which also allows the Pels to see what some of these talents look like in the NBA. Also allows AD to play with Zion and see if it persuades him.

That's posturing. Especially with the Knicks and Lakers having top four picks, the Pels would be stupid to let the Knicks/Lakers pick a player instead of getting the guy they want.

You also lose leverage on the Knicks to try to use AD as a free agency draw for KD or Kyrie. Plus, AD winds up months from FA by the deadline.

You know you'll get a legit summer offer. You don't know you'll get a good one at the trade deadline.

This is just to try to strengthen negotiating leverage. Hell, basically all the talk about AD staying is leverage.

there is less than a zero percent chance he takes this past the opening of camp
