I really don't think you're going to get someone to pay more for it than a new model. But someone who keeps a closer eye on the markets can correct me if I'm wrong.

You are wrong. There are rolex's that will sell for almost double retail the day you can buy it. But you better be connected to a jeweler in order to get it because Rolexs limits the release of their products. They just sit on inventory.

Correct Sir, the average joe is not going to walk into a Rolex ad and leave with a stainless daytona or any other stainless tool watch. The pepsi, batman, daytona and subs will have instant equity. David SW just listed the new batman for 23k, it sells for 9400 at the ad.

If you can sell a Rolex for more than you bought it the day you bought it then why wouldn't the person you're selling to buy it for the price and from the place you bought it? And even if what you are saying is true you're talking about arbitrage and not a watch as an investment appreciating and a used watch being worth more than a new watch.
